•     Tomb of Sultan Bayazid Botani – located on a small hill in Narisabad, about 6 kilometers north of Chittagong town. The shrine attracts a vast number of visitors and travelers from all over the world. At the foot of the hill is found a large tank containing hundreds of tortoises. It is believed that these animals carry the evil spirits of the dead, also called the “genii”. These spirits were believed to cast into tortoises because they incurred the fury of a great saint who visited the place about 1100 years ago.

•     World War II Cemetery – is a well-preserved cemetery in an attractive and tranquil place within Chittagong. Here is where the bodies of over 700 soldiers rest. These soldiers came from various parts of the globe including Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Africa, India, Japan, Netherlands and Myanmar. They came to Bangladesh during the Second World War.

•     Shrine of Shah Amanat – is another place for religious purposes, located at the center of Chittagong. Hundreds of people come to visit here everyday to pay respect to the Saint Shah Amanat’s memory.

•     Foy’s Lake – also known as the “Pahartali Lake” is located 8 kilometers away from Chittagong. Foy’s Lake is a perfect place for picnics. The place has a very amazing view which is visited by thousands of tourists every week.

•     Sitakunda – located about 37 kilometers from Chittaging. Here, one can find one of the most well-known temples in Bangladesh. The famous Chandranath temple and the Buddha temple are found here. There is also a salt water spring located about 5 kilometers north os Sitakuna, which is also known as the Labanakhya.

•    Chandraghona: located 48 kilometer from Chittagong, on the Kaptai Road. This place is where one of the leading paper mills in Asia is found. Not too far from the paper mill is a rayon factory which produces artificial fibers made from bamboo.

Easter Island

The first place that is a must see is Easter Island (Moai) The Chilean People refer to the island heads as Moai (meaning a stone figure). These figures stretch across the island some estimate the number of stone figures that are there are in the hundreds. Some of the stone faces have deteriorated over time but some have been lifted up and restored to their original splendor. Most are lying on the ground having falling over after many years of being neglected and torn apart.

Most historians recognize that the stone that was used to carve these great figures was a local quarry not to far away. The figures according to historians were most likely carved at the quarry site and then by using a system of rollers or logs and a system of pulleys were brought to where they currently reside on the island. Most of these figures are thought to represent a chief in the local village but no one is for sure since the original people who built them have never been found.

SANGANER

Location – 16 km on Tonk Road.

SAMOD

The old palace renovated and result in a very tasteful manner in the 19th century provides the most gorgeously decorated and painted example of Rajput haveli architecture.

BAIRATH

Location: 86 km on the Shapura – Alwar road.

The site of Anicent Viratnagar of great antiquity, it contains the relics and structures of Mauryan, Mughal and Rajputs periods.

The excavated remains of a circular Buddhist temple, the only one of its kind in the country, two 3rd century B.C rock edicts of the Mauryan king Asoka the great, unique in Rajasthan, make it an important historical place.

SAMBHAR

Location: 94 km west from Jaipur

Sambhar, famous for the country’s largest inland salt lake, is an ancient city. It was the first capital of the Chauhan dystany, named Sakambhari, as it was founded near the temple of goddess Sakambhari, famous for its holy Deveyani tank, the palace yielded sculptures and terracottas from 3rd century onwards.

TONK

Location: 96 kms from Jaipur, Tonk District of Rajasthan
